Favent

product

After an event, each guest finds every photo they appear in by showing the app their face; the face is measured on their own phone or laptop and never uploaded.

The Favent guest page: Your photos from the event, out of thousands, a slot for the six-character token, and three photo-booth strips from the Rijksmuseum

What it does

The organiser points Favent at the event's photos and hands out a six-character token. The server finds every face and packs them into a small index.

A guest gives consent, shows the camera three frames, and their phone or browser searches that index itself. The face measurement stays there; the photos it finds are then fetched to show them.

A stranger can try it with no account: borrow a face from 140 photo-booth portraits the Rijksmuseum released into the public domain.

Measured

  • 36 489faces in a 20 MB index of 52 GB of photos
  • 3-4ms to search them with the Swift matcher, on a Mac

Where it stands

Runs on a laptop, in the browser and as an iOS app in the simulator; nothing is hosted or in a store, and its face models are licensed for non-commercial research only.
